The manufacturer tells patients not to count clicks. The Ozempic Instructions For Use says: “You will hear a ‘click’ every time you turn the dose selector. Do not set the dose by counting the number of clicks you hear.” Use the dose counter and dose pointer. What the numbers mean
- 72 clicks per full dial on every Ozempic pen — low-dose, 1 mg and 2 mg alike.
- mg per click changes with concentration. The 2 mg pen delivers about 0.0278 mg per click; the 1 mg pen about 0.0139 mg; the low-dose pen about 0.0069 mg.
- So the same click count is a different dose on each pen. 36 clicks is 1 mg on the 2 mg pen, 0.5 mg on the 1 mg pen, and 0.25 mg on the low-dose pen.
- Only labeled doses are selectable. Novo Nordisk lists 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg for the low-dose pen, 1 mg for the 1 mg pen, and 2 mg for the 2 mg pen.

What Novo Nordisk actually says about clicks
The Ozempic Instructions For Use, published by the manufacturer, is blunt about click counting. Read on 16 September 2026:
“You will hear a ‘click’ every time you turn the dose selector. Do not set the dose by counting the number of clicks you hear. Only doses of 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg can be selected with the dose selector. The selected dose must line up exactly with the dose pointer to make sure that you get a correct dose.”
